Telecom operator to deploy fibre-based connectivity and smart-city solutions across Hassan Allam subsidiary’s project

Egyptian telecom operator WE has signed a memorandum of understanding with Grofa Developments, the real estate arm of Hassan Allam Holding, to provide integrated telecommunications infrastructure and smart-city solutions for one of the company’s upcoming developments.

The agreement forms part of WE’s broader strategy to expand digital infrastructure across Egypt’s new urban communities and support the country’s ongoing digital transformation agenda.

Under the partnership, WE will design and deploy the project’s telecommunications network using Fibre-to-the-Room (FTTR) technology, providing residents and businesses with high-capacity connectivity through advanced fibre-optic infrastructure. The company will also implement XGPON technology to support ultra-high-speed internet services throughout the development.

In addition to broadband connectivity, WE will offer a suite of digital services, including Triple Play packages combining high-speed internet, fixed-line telephony and IPTV services. The telecom operator will also introduce smart-living technologies such as home automation systems, community management applications and public Wi-Fi networks.

The agreement was signed by Mohamed El-Tony, Deputy Chief Executive for Consumer Commercial Affairs at WE, and Sherif Mohamed Sadek, Chief Executive of Grofa Developments, in the presence of Hassan Allam, Chairman and Chief Executive of Hassan Allam Holding, and Tamer El-Mahdy, Managing Director and Chief Executive of WE.

Smart Communities Drive Demand for Digital Infrastructure

The partnership reflects the growing integration of digital infrastructure into Egypt’s expanding real estate sector, where developers are increasingly incorporating connectivity, automation and smart-city technologies into residential and mixed-use projects.

As demand rises for digitally enabled communities, telecom operators are positioning themselves as strategic partners for developers seeking to enhance property value and improve resident experiences through advanced communications services.

Tamer El-Mahdy said the agreement represents another step in WE’s efforts to support digital transformation and smart urban development, noting that the company continues to leverage investments in Egypt’s fibre-optic network to provide advanced connectivity solutions for real estate projects.

Sherif Sadek said the partnership aligns with Grofa’s vision of developing integrated communities focused on quality, sustainability and long-term value, adding that digital infrastructure has become a fundamental component of modern urban living.

Digitalisation Reshapes Egypt’s Property Sector

The agree

ment highlights a broader trend across Egypt’s real estate market as developers increasingly invest in smart technologies to meet changing consumer expectations and support the government’s vision for digitally connected cities.

For WE, the partnership reinforces its role in developing the digital backbone of Egypt’s new urban centres. For Grofa and Hassan Allam Holding, it provides access to advanced telecommunications capabilities that can support future-ready communities and strengthen the attractiveness of new developments in an increasingly competitive property market.

As Egypt accelerates investment in smart cities and next-generation infrastructure, collaborations between telecom operators and property developers are expected to play an increasingly important role in shaping the country’s urban landscape.
