Egypt is seeking to accelerate investment in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital infrastructure following discussions between Raafat Hindi and executives from Amazon Web Services (AWS) regarding the company’s expansion plans in the Egyptian market.

The talks focused on AWS plans to expand cloud and computing infrastructure projects in Egypt, including the rollout of additional cloud services and the development of specialised computing infrastructure designed to support artificial intelligence applications, model development, and data-processing capabilities.

Officials also reviewed implementation timelines and potential cooperation in strengthening local data-centre infrastructure aimed at improving digital service efficiency within Egypt while supporting wider regional and global technology operations.

During the discussions, Raafat Hindi stated that Egypt is prioritising investment in cloud computing, data centres, and artificial intelligence through expanded digital infrastructure, supportive regulatory frameworks, and measures designed to facilitate investment by global technology companies.

He added that expanding cloud-computing services represents a key pillar in Egypt’s broader digital transformation strategy and the development of an innovation-driven digital economy, particularly as demand for AI applications and advanced computing capabilities continues to grow across multiple sectors.

For its part, AWS described Egypt as one of the region’s fastest-growing markets in demand for digital services and technology solutions, highlighting the country’s growing strategic importance within the company’s Middle East and North Africa expansion plans.

As The Middle East Observer notes, the discussions reflect Egypt’s broader ambition to position itself as a regional digital infrastructure and technology hub by attracting global cloud providers, expanding local data-processing capacity, and strengthening the computational infrastructure required to support future AI-driven economic growth.
