Egypt Approves Telecom Service Price Increases of Up to 15%

Must read

CAIRO — Egypt’s National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has approved price increases on selected telecommunications and internet packages, with adjustments ranging between 9% and 15%, according to an official statement issued on Wednesday.

The regulator said the increases apply to certain mobile and internet bundles inclusive of taxes, while confirming that prices for fixed-line voice calls, mobile voice minutes, recharge cards, and electronic wallet services will remain unchanged.

The NTRA stated that the pricing adjustments are intended to support continued investment in telecommunications infrastructure and maintain service quality amid rising demand for digital and internet services across the country.

At the same time, the authority directed telecom operators to introduce lower-cost package options, including new entry-level internet bundles aimed at expanding accessibility and digital inclusion for consumers.

Industry observers note that Egypt’s telecommunications sector has experienced rapid growth in data consumption in recent years, driven by increased smartphone penetration, digital services expansion, and higher reliance on online platforms for business and daily services.

As The Middle East Observer notes, the latest adjustments reflect the balancing challenge facing Egypt’s telecom sector between maintaining affordability for consumers and sustaining infrastructure investment needed to support the country’s accelerating digital transformation agenda.
