The discussion centered on advancing Egypt’s Digital Strategy, emphasizing the development of the outsourcing sector and bolstering Egypt’s appeal to global companies as an ideal location for expansion.
President El-Sisi underscored the necessity of improving communication services nationwide, aiming to provide citizens with high-quality and efficient internet and telecommunications services. His directives focused on enhancing Egypt’s global telecommunications rankings and elevating the country as a regional hub for digital services and IT innovations.
Progress in launching the second edition of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy was also highlighted. This initiative aims to harness AI technology to address societal challenges, supporting both governmental and private sectors with advanced computing resources, thus propelling national economic growth.
Moreover, the meeting reviewed inter-ministerial collaborations to advance digital transformation, upgrade national post offices, and localize mobile phone manufacturing. President El-Sisi emphasized the transformation into a fully integrated digital society, with goals of expanding digital services, data governance, and enhancing digital skills training through initiatives like technology schools and innovation centers.
In a remarkable stride, the US-based firm Commvault announced its new center of excellence in Cairo, enhancing Egypt’s cyber resilience landscape. This facility will serve both the regional and US markets, offering cutting-edge solutions to counter sophisticated cyber threats. Minister Talaat highlighted Egypt’s success in promoting the outsourcing industry, which is poised to generate significant job opportunities and foster advanced cybersecurity expertise.
Egypt is ambitiously working to become a global nexus for outsourcing and technological innovation, with plans to elevate outsourcing exports to $9 billion by 2026. As part of this vision, the ICT sector’s contribution to GDP has already grown significantly as the Sector’s contribution to GDP rose from 3.2 % to 5.8% in FY 2023/2024.
