Egypt has moved to strengthen maritime connectivity with East Africa after Canal Shipping Agencies Company signed a cooperation protocol with Trust Trading and Transport Company to establish a joint venture operating specialized commercial vessels between Egyptian and East African ports.
The agreement, signed in the presence of Transport Minister Kamel El Wazir, supports government directives under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to expand intra-African trade and boost Egyptian exports.
The new company will manage livestock and cargo vessels while providing integrated logistics services, including shipping agency representation, customs clearance, inland transport, storage, and coordination with veterinary and regulatory authorities.
Operations will initially run through Safaga Port, with plans to expand to other Red Sea ports. The initiative aims to streamline livestock supply chains, reduce logistics bottlenecks, and reinforce Egypt’s role as a regional Red Sea trade hub.
