On April 14, in Moscow First Deputy General Director of the State Corporation Rosatom Kirill Komarov and Deputy Minister of Energy of Laos Sinava Souphanouvong signed a Memorandum for cooperation in peaceful use of nuclear energy.
The document was signed in the presence of General Director of the State Corporation Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko and Deputy Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic of S. Lengsavad during his visit to Russia.
Within the framework of the Memorandum the parties plan to cooperate in the field of design, construction and operation of nuclear power and research reactors; basic and applied research; nuclear and radiation safety; research and development in the field of nuclear medicine technology; education and personnel training.
The document provides the establishment of a joint working group to identify specific projects aimed at the development of cooperation. In addition, the parties plan to develop and prepare for the signing of an Intergovernmental agreement for cooperation in peaceful use of nuclear energy.
