Egypt’s Information Minister, Arab Academy President Discuss Developing Digital Media Education

Egypt’s Minister of State for Information Diaa Rashwan held talks on Sunday with Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, President of the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport, to discuss expanding cooperation in media education, training, and digital communication technologies.

According to official statements, the meeting took place at the Ministry of State for Information headquarters in Cairo and focused on enhancing academic and professional collaboration between the ministry and the academy, particularly in the fields of communication sciences, digital media skills, and artificial intelligence applications.

During the discussions, Rashwan emphasized the growing importance of universities and specialized media institutions in preparing future generations of media professionals capable of adapting to rapid transformations in the global communication landscape.

He stressed the need to integrate modern digital competencies and AI technologies into media education while reinforcing professional standards, citizenship values, and constitutional principles related to freedom of thought and expression.

Rashwan also praised the Arab Academy’s role as one of the leading specialized institutions operating under the umbrella of the League of Arab States, highlighting its contribution to developing qualified human resources across the Arab region in line with sustainable development objectives.

For his part, Abdel Ghaffar reviewed the academy’s recent progress in media sciences and arts across its regional branches, expressing the institution’s readiness to expand cooperation with the Ministry of State for Information through specialized training programs and technical support initiatives targeting media professionals in official institutions.
