A New Chapter For The Middle East Observer

Must read

In a world shaped by constant challenges, individuals must navigate new tests every day, relying on the skills and experience they have developed over time.

Taking a step forward requires careful consideration—understanding the factors that drive success, learning from experiences, and maintaining a clear view of the future.

This issue marks my first as Editor-in-Chief of The Middle East Observer, one of the region’s longest-running English-language newspapers, established in the 1950s.

I take over following the recent passing of former Editor-in-Chief Hisham Abdel Raouf, after a long and distinguished career in journalism.

I worked alongside Abdel Raouf for more than 20 years, gaining firsthand experience in the profession. I now continue along the same path, drawing on that experience to lead the next phase.

Leadership transitions are part of any institution’s evolution. I assume this role now alongside Chairman Mr. Mahmoud Fouda, whose leadership reflects clarity, adaptability, and consistent support.

The media industry, particularly print journalism, faces increasing pressure amid shifting geopolitical dynamics, economic uncertainty, and financial constraints. In response, we have developed a structured plan for the coming period.

The strategy focuses on upgrading the print edition in both format and editorial content, introducing a new generation of journalists selected and trained to meet modern standards, and enhancing the newspaper’s digital platform in line with current technologies.

In the coming editions, readers will see updates in design, expanded coverage, and a stronger focus on Egyptian affairs. The aim is to position The Middle East Observer as a reliable source for international readers seeking insight into Egypt’s economic, political, cultural, and social developments.

We remain committed to delivering accurate, relevant, and forward-looking journalism in the period ahead.
