Agiba Petroleum Company has announced the approval of a robust $641.3 million budget for the fiscal year 2025-2026. The strategy was unveiled during a virtual meeting chaired by Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, highlighting the country’s commitment to modernizing its energy sector through advanced technologies and innovative drilling techniques.
Efforts to enhance oil and natural gas production are pivotal in reducing Egypt’s imported energy reliance and supporting its economy. Minister Badawi emphasized the crucial role of contemporary drilling methods, which have shown superior results compared to traditional operations. “Our strategy focuses on leveraging advanced technology to maximize output and ensure energy efficiency,” he stated.
Agiba’s collaboration with international partners such as the Italian company Eni reflects a joint commitment to environmental sustainability. Noteworthy is the company’s achievement of zero flare gas emissions at its Western Desert treatment plant, underscoring a regional leadership in eco-friendly energy production.
Eng. Tharwat El Gendy, Chairman of Agiba Petroleum, presented performance indicators that reveal promising targets for the upcoming years. The company aims to produce 24,000 barrels of oil and 64 million cubic feet of natural gas per day. “Our operations have reached 82% of our production targets, and we continue to push the boundaries of what is achievable in challenging formations,” El Gendy noted.
A groundbreaking achievement includes the drilling of the first deep horizontal well in the Masajid formation, attaining an initial output of 1,800 barrels per day, significantly adding to the company’s reserves.
Specialists globally have lauded Egypt’s strategic approach. Dr. John Richards, a leading energy analyst, commented, “Egypt’s focus on modern technology in oil drilling not only enhances efficiency but also sets a precedent for resource management in the region.”
According to the International Energy Agency, Egypt’s energy sector growth aligns with global trends towards sustainable and efficient energy production, promising economic benefits and energy security.
Looking ahead, Agiba plans further exploration in new layers, leveraging a completed 3D seismic survey, which promises insights for future drilling endeavors.
