Company Pays Tribute to a Respected Leader Whose Legacy Shaped Generations of Employees
Cairo, June 12, 2026 — Egypt Fertilizers Production Company (MOPCO) announced with profound sorrow the passing of Major General Dr. Mohamed Hosni Kamel, Vice Chairman for Administrative Affairs and Human Resources, who passed away on June 11, 2026, after a distinguished career marked by dedication, integrity and exceptional service.
The loss has cast a shadow over both MOPCO and Egypt’s petroleum and industrial sectors, where the late executive was widely respected as one of the company’s most influential administrative leaders and a key contributor to its institutional development.
MOPCO Chairman and Managing Director Eng. Ahmed Mahmoud El-Sayed, together with the Board of Directors, executive management and employees, expressed their deepest condolences, describing Dr. Kamel as a pillar of the company whose contributions extended far beyond his official responsibilities.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kamel played a central role in strengthening MOPCO’s organizational structure, advancing human-resources development and fostering a culture of professionalism, discipline and accountability. Colleagues remember him not only as a highly capable executive, but also as a mentor and leader who placed people at the heart of institutional success.
In a heartfelt tribute, Eng. Ahmed Mahmoud El-Sayed reflected on both the professional and personal loss caused by Dr. Kamel’s passing.
“Today, MOPCO has lost one of its most loyal founding figures, and I have personally lost a dear brother and trusted companion. He was a steadfast supporter, a man of principle who defended what was right until his final days, compassionate toward everyone around him and decisive when leadership was required.”
He added that Dr. Kamel embodied the qualities of an exceptional leader who combined strength with humility.
“He was a role model and a father figure to everyone in the workplace. He carried responsibility with courage, worked tirelessly to ensure success and then, with remarkable modesty, credited that success to his team.”
Those who worked alongside Dr. Kamel often spoke of his unique philosophy regarding human capital. He consistently referred to employees as the company’s “human wealth,” reflecting his conviction that people are the most valuable asset of any successful organization.
His colleagues particularly recall one phrase that became synonymous with his leadership style:
“Let’s work a little harder so we can bring happiness to others.”
According to employees, this simple principle guided many of his decisions and reflected a leadership approach rooted in empathy, service and genuine concern for people and their families.
Beyond his administrative achievements, Dr. Kamel leaves behind a lasting human legacy. He was known for encouraging teamwork, supporting employees during difficult times and creating a positive work environment that earned him widespread respect and affection throughout the organization.
Eng. El-Sayed concluded his tribute by saying:
“We learned so much from him. He leaves behind standards that will be difficult to match. He was a maker of happiness, a source of encouragement and a leader whose influence will remain with us for years to come. May God bless his soul and grant him eternal peace.”
MOPCO stated that condolences will be received on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Al-Moshir Tantawi Mosque in Cairo, with the men’s gathering held in Al-Safa Hall and the women’s gathering in Al-Iman Hall following the Maghrib prayer.
The company concluded its statement by praying that God grant the late Major General Dr. Mohamed Hosni Kamel eternal peace and reward him for a lifetime of dedication, service and commitment, while providing strength and comfort to his family, colleagues and loved ones during this difficult time.
“Indeed, to God we belong, and to Him we shall return.”
