CAIRO — Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inspected construction works at the Pyramids Station project in Giza, part of the first phase of Metro Line 4, according to an official statement. The visit, attended by Mostafa Madbouly, Kamel El-Wazir, and representatives from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), underscores continued government focus on expanding mass transit infrastructure.
According to Mohamed El-Shennawy, the President reviewed progress on the line, which is scheduled to open in the first half of 2028 and is expected to serve around 2 million passengers daily. The project will connect key high-density areas including 6th of October City, Haram, Faisal, Giza, Nasr City, and New Cairo, while integrating with the broader metro network and the monorail system.
The visit also marked a construction milestone, with the tunnel boring machine completing excavation of a 6.35 km section between Hadayek Al-Ashgar and Pyramids stations. Officials outlined ongoing works including tunnel preparation, track installation, and signalling systems as part of a wider plan to build a sustainable urban transport network.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi directed strict adherence to timelines and quality standards, emphasising the importance of linking densely populated areas to efficient, environmentally friendly transport.
As The Middle East Observer notes, Metro Line 4 represents a key pillar in Egypt’s strategy to expand green mobility and ease urban congestion, with its successful delivery expected to significantly enhance connectivity across Greater Cairo.
