Must read

EDECS and MEDLOG have signed an agreement to develop a major dry port facility in 10th of Ramadan City, marking a significant step in Egypt’s efforts to enhance its logistics and trade infrastructure.

The project will span approximately 189,000 square metres and will be executed under a full engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) framework. Scope of works includes earthworks, paving, utilities installation, and the development of core port infrastructure designed to support expanded freight handling capacity.

The new facility is expected to play a pivotal role in modernising Egypt’s logistics ecosystem by improving supply chain efficiency, increasing cargo throughput, and supporting the country’s ambition to position itself as a regional trade hub. The project aligns with the national transport strategy led by the Ministry of Transport, which aims to establish an integrated network of dry ports and logistics zones across the country.

For MEDLOG, the initiative represents its first dry port development in Egypt, extending the company’s global logistics footprint into a key regional market. The facility is set to incorporate advanced digital systems, smart transport solutions, and environmentally conscious technologies to streamline operations and reduce logistical costs and risks.

Hussein El Dessouky, Chairperson of EDECS, stated that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to delivering world-class infrastructure capable of supporting long-term economic growth and regional trade integration.

As The Middle East Observer notes, the project highlights Egypt’s accelerating investment in logistics infrastructure, reinforcing its strategic positioning at the intersection of global trade routes while advancing the transition toward more efficient and technology-driven supply chain networks.
