The Egyptian-Czech Joint Economic Committee convened in Prague, co-chaired by Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, and Czech Minister of Industry and Trade, Lukas Valticek. The meeting underscored commitments to expand trade, enhance technological collaboration, and foster economic growth between the two nations.

One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the agreement to boost trade volumes by intensifying bilateral trade activities and increasing participation in trade fairs. The ministers highlighted the importance of the direct EgyptAir flight, which serves as a crucial link facilitating trade, investment, and tourism between Egypt and the Czech Republic. This direct connection is poised to further stimulate economic interactions and tourism exchanges.

The committee expressed a strong commitment to collaboration in several critical sectors. In environment and water management, both nations aim to make efficient use of resources and share expertise in modern water treatment technologies. Agricultural cooperation will focus on the exchange of goods, livestock development, and sharing phytosanitary expertise, contributing to food security and agricultural innovation.

A promising area of mutual interest is renewable energy and green hydrogen. Both countries are leveraging their collective knowledge to advance these emerging fields, reflecting a shared commitment to sustainable development. The mining sector will see the integration of Czech technology for mineral exploration, enhancing resource utilization.

Supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups emerged as a priority, with a focus on sharing best practices, developing business incubators, and expanding industrial zones. This initiative aims to boost economic productivity and technological advancement through technology transfer and vocational training.

Tourism cooperation will be strengthened through joint participation in tourism fairs and exchanging information to increase tourist flows. The ICT sector will see enhanced cooperation, particularly in artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, research and development, and the support of startup incubators, setting the stage for a vibrant innovation ecosystem.

The committee also encouraged Czech investment in Egypt, emphasizing Egypt’s strategic location as a gateway to African and Arab markets. With favorable trade agreements offering customs exemptions, Egypt presents an attractive destination for Czech investors seeking to expand their reach.
