Brazil Secures $18.5m, Targets $53m More at Food Africa

Brazilian food exporters recorded a strong commercial performance at Food Africa 2025, with participating companies securing USD 18.5 million in on-site deals and projecting a further USD 53 million in sales over the next 12 months, according to figures released by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC).

The results were achieved by eight Brazilian companies that took part in the Cairo-based exhibition during the first half of December, reflecting heightened business activity and growing trade links with the Egyptian and wider regional markets. Despite a smaller delegation compared to last year, the commercial outcome more than doubled previous results.

Fernanda Dantas, Internationalization Projects Manager at the ABCC, said the performance confirmed strong market momentum. She noted that the fair witnessed heavy traffic and sustained buyer interest, translating into concrete contracts and promising commercial leads.

Brazil’s participation was organised under the Halal do Brasil project, led jointly by the ABCC and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil). The initiative aims to expand exports of halal-certified Brazilian food products to Muslim-majority markets, including Egypt, by supporting exporters with market access, promotion, and trade facilitation.

By comparison, ten Brazilian companies participated in the previous edition of Food Africa, generating USD 7.59 million in immediate deals and an estimated USD 34.08 million in follow-on sales over a 12-month period. The sharp year-on-year increase underscores growing demand for Brazilian halal food products and the effectiveness of targeted trade-promotion strategies.

Trade officials view the latest results as further evidence of Egypt’s role as a strategic gateway for Brazilian agrifood exports into North Africa, the Middle East, and broader Muslim consumer markets.
