Dendera Temple and Rosetta Heritage Sites Added to Islamic World Heritage List

Must read

Cairo — Egypt has secured new international recognition for its cultural legacy, with the Dendera Temple and historic houses in Rosetta (Rashid) officially inscribed on the Islamic World Heritage List by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO).

The decision was announced during the 13th session of the Islamic World Heritage Committee held in Tashkent, in coordination with the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture and the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Egypt.

Officials stated that the listing reflects sustained national efforts to preserve Egypt’s multi-era heritage and enhance its global cultural presence. The initiative also aligns with broader strategies led by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research Egypt to strengthen cultural identity and expand Egypt’s participation in international heritage programs.

As The Middle East Observer notes, the recognition highlights the architectural and historical significance of both sites—Dendera as one of Egypt’s best-preserved temple complexes, and Rosetta as a key Mediterranean heritage city known for its Ottoman-era urban fabric.
