British Ambassador to Egypt John Casson is keen to take pictures of himself during his tour of various historical places in Cairo and is always keen to take pictures with Egyptian citizens and post them on his official Twitter account. Casson has recently launched a hashtag about the reasons that make him love Cairo and he has already mentioned 47 of them that were circulated by various social networking sites.
A number of Egyptians wondered about the secret behind the British ambassador’s love of Egypt and whether it is true love or if he is looking for something in its streets.
Casson replied, saying that the reasons for his love of Cairo come from the heart and that he does not have any other motives. He started by talking about the underground metro, saying that it is newer and less expensive, compared to that of London. It is the fastest way to go from Sadat Station, which is located in Tahrir Square, to the Giza Pyramids, he said. Ever since he assumed his post as Britain’s ambassador to Egypt, he has expressed his passion for Egypt in general and Cairo in particular.
Among the places where Casson took some souvenir photos is Al-Azhar Park, El Fishawy coffee shop in El Hussein neighborhood which still holds Egypt’s history.
Last week, he posted three pictures of himself on the underground metro wearing casual clothes in front of the Sadat Station in Tahrir, the second waiting for the metro and the third on board. He also posted pictures of his visit to Luxor and Aswan.
