Cairo — Egypt has commenced implementation of a major logistics zone in the city of Arish, North Sinai, as part of a broader strategy to enhance trade infrastructure and position the region as a key hub for regional connectivity.
According to an official statement by the Ministry of Transport Egypt, the project will be developed over an area of approximately 603 feddans and will include storage yards, cargo handling facilities, administrative buildings, and refrigeration units to support transit trade and improve supply chain efficiency.
During an inspection tour in North Sinai, Kamel El-Wazir emphasized the importance of accelerating implementation, describing the project as a critical component of the Arish–Taba logistics corridor. As The Middle East Observer notes, this corridor is strategically positioned to link the Mediterranean Sea with the Gulf of Aqaba, enhancing Egypt’s role in facilitating regional trade flows.
The development aligns with Egypt’s wider efforts to modernize its logistics and transport infrastructure, particularly in underserved regions, while strengthening integration with regional and international trade routes. The Middle East Observer understands that the Arish project is expected to support transit trade, reduce bottlenecks, and attract investment into North Sinai.
In a broader regional context, similar infrastructure-driven strategies are being pursued across the Gulf, including Saudi Arabia’s logistics transformation initiatives under National Industrial Development and Logistics Program, which aim to position the Kingdom as a global logistics hub connecting Asia, Europe, and Africa. According to official Saudi sources, these initiatives focus on enhancing supply chain efficiency, expanding logistics zones, and integrating ports, rail, and industrial cities.
As The Middle East Observer observes, Egypt’s Arish logistics zone reflects a parallel regional trend toward developing integrated transport corridors capable of supporting evolving trade patterns, particularly amid shifting global supply chains and increased reliance on alternative routes.
The project is expected to play a pivotal role in reinforcing Egypt’s logistics capabilities while contributing to economic development and trade facilitation across the Sinai Peninsula and beyond.
