Khalil, who has openly set her sights on competing at the 2028 Olympic Games, amassed a total of 1,470 points, outpacing her closest competitor by 27 seconds. Her victory was underscored by setting the fastest obstacle time of the weekend at 29.20 seconds and winning her swimming heat with an impressive 2:14.07, narrowing the gap on Italy’s Aurora Tognetti early in the competition.
While Khalil faced challenges with an early exit in the fencing round, she displayed remarkable resilience in the laser run. Overhauling Tognetti from the outset, she maintained a steady lead to fend off a late charge from South Korea’s Seong Seung-min, who finished second with 1,443 points. Hungary’s Blanka Guzi secured the bronze with 1,440 points, while fellow Egyptian Malak Ismail finished 12th, earning 1,390 points.
Khalil’s coach, Ahmed El-Malky, expressed his delight at her achievement, stating in an exclusive interview, “Farida’s performance today is a testament to her dedication and talent. She consistently pushes her limits and has a bright future ahead.”
Khalil first made headlines by winning the 2023 U17 World Championship at just 12 years old. Her latest triumph at the World Cup elevates Egypt’s medal tally in the 2025 series to seven, with Khalil contributing three golds and one silver. This success also includes notable performances by Moataz Wael and Mohanad Shaban in the men’s events, and Ismail in the women’s category.
Hosted at the prestigious Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Alexandria from July 4-6, the Pentathlon World Cup saw 18 male and 18 female athletes compete in the finals.gypt
