EgyptAir Company will sign contracts to buy 33 planes of the latest models as part of the national carrier’s efforts to renew its fleet, Chairman and CEO of EgyptAir Holding Company Safwat Musallam said. The models of the planes will vary according to the needs of the company.
The 8th Boeing plane (B737-800 NG) arrived to Egypt on Saturdayas part of a nine-plane deal. The 9th plane will arrive here by the end of 2017. EgyptAir announced in July the purchase of nine of the latest 737 aircraft, valued at about US$864 million (almost LE9 billion).
Eight of the aircrafts are being purchased with the assistance of Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE), partly owned by the government of Dubai. The 737-800 is the best-selling version of the successful Next-Generation 737 family. Known for its reliability, fuel efficiency, and economic performance, the 737-800 is selected by leading carriers throughout the world because it provides operators the flexibility to serve a wide range of markets.
