Egypt starts tomorrow its first game against Mali in AFCON within the fourth group which joins also Uganda and Ghana teams. Most of the previous matches between Egypt and group’s teams are either victories for Egypt or draws. Egypt has met Mali three times. It won Mali one time in the qualifications to AFCON in Tunisia 1994 and lost twice, one in the return game and the other in the second round of AFCON 1994 in Tunisia.
Egypt will play next match against the cranes of Uganda on January 21st. Egypt has met Uganda six times before, achieving 4 victories 2-1 in AFCON 1962, 1-0 in the qualifications of AFCON 1968, 2-1 in AFCON 1974, 6-0 in the qualification of AFCON in 1996, and one draw 0-0 in the first match in AFCON 1996. Egypt will confront the black stars team in the third match on January 25th.
Egypt has played with Ghana three times in previous AFCONs and two times in the qualifications of World Cup. Egypt won Ghana twice, 1-0 in the final match of AFCON 2010 and 2-1 in the return match of the qualifications of World Cup 2014, and lost two matches 0-1 in AFCON 1992 and 1-6 in the qualifications of World Cup 2014. Only one draw between the pharaohs and the Black Stares teams 1-1 in 1970.
