Boeing Commercial Airplanes expects a demand of new 39620 aircrafts over the next 20 years, with an increase of 4.1 per cent comparing to last year’s expectations. The company announced the current market expectation in Farnborough Airshow, explaining that these new aircrafts will bring about $5.9tn revenue.
Randy Tinseth, vice president of Marketing for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, says “Although, late happenings influenced financial markets negatively, aircraft industry will continue its growth and the number of commercial airplanes will increase. We expect passengers’ numbers to increase by 4.8 per cent over the next two decades.”
Narrow-body aircraft , market will witness a boost as a consequence of the participation of low-cost airplanes companies in enhancing narrow-body aircrafts. This sector requires 28.140 aircrafts, with an increase of 5 per cent from last year’s expectation. Narrow-body aircraft market is going to target new Boeing 737 MAX 8 and Max 200 aircrafts instead of Boeing 737-800 aircrafts.
It is to be noted that Narrow- body aircraft, is an airliner arranged along a single aisle permitting up to 6-abreast seating in a cabin below 4 metres (13 ft) of width
Wide-body aircraft market is expected to require 9.100 aircrafts due to its need to replace old aircrafts with new ones; this is expected to take place from 2021 to 2028. Boeing intends to shift its production from large aircrafts to small and medium sizes of wide-body aircrafts such as Boeing 787, 777 and 777X.
While there are expectations that air cargo industry will experience a boost by 4.2 per cent yearly; Boeing expects that 930 new cargo aircrafts will be needed.
