Egypt Launches “In Egypt We Care” Platform to Digitally Integrate Medical Tourism Destinations

Must read

Egypt’s General Authority for Healthcare has launched official digital platforms for its “In Egypt We Care” medical tourism initiative, aiming to unify the country’s healthcare destinations under a single, technology-driven access point for international and domestic patients.

The platforms are designed to streamline the full patient journey—service discovery, communication, treatment coordination, and follow-up—positioning digital infrastructure as a core enabler of Egypt’s medical tourism strategy.

Dr Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Authority, said the initiative reflects the state’s drive to maximize the value of its advanced healthcare infrastructure through digital transformation, framing medical tourism as a pillar of sustainable economic development.

The platform connects a network of medical tourism destinations, each serving a distinct role within Egypt’s healthcare ecosystem. Cairo functions as the country’s primary clinical hub, concentrating complex procedures, advanced diagnostics, and specialized care supported by large-scale hospitals and teaching institutions. Alexandria complements this with strong elective surgery and rehabilitation capacity, benefiting from proximity to major urban infrastructure and a recovery-friendly coastal environment.

Meanwhile, Red Sea destinations such as Hurghada and El Gouna are positioned as post-treatment recovery and wellness hubs, combining private healthcare facilities with tourism-grade accommodation. In Upper Egypt, Aswan offers climate-based rehabilitation and long-stay recovery, particularly for chronic and rheumatological conditions.

By digitally integrating these geographically distributed destinations, the “In Egypt We Care” platforms improve operational efficiency, reduce patient friction, and allow coordinated care across regions. This model enables Egypt to compete not only on cost and clinical capacity, but also on service orchestration, accessibility, and patient experience—critical factors in the global medical tourism market.

The initiative signals a shift from fragmented promotion toward a platform-based healthcare export model, reinforcing Egypt’s ambitions to emerge as a regional health-tech and medical tourism hub.
