More flights during Hajj season

EgyptAir plans to launch around 490 flights to Jeddah and Al Madinah Al Monawara during this year’s Hajj (pilgrimage) season during travel and return phases from and to the terminal allocated for seasonal flights at Cairo International Airport and other Egyptian airports from which Hajj flights will be taking off this year.

Head of EgyptAir Holding Company Sameh Al-Hefni said the first flight to take off from Cairo and Borg Al-Arab airports this year will be destined for Al Madinah Al Monawara Airport. The first Hajj flight will take off from Borg Al-Arab Airport to transport pilgrims from Alexandria on 30 August, while the first flight to leave Cairo Airport will be on 31 August with lottery pilgrims from Fayoum Governorate on board. The first social solidarity pilgrim flights will take off on 4 September from Cairo Airport to Al Madinah Al Monawara,with pilgrims from charity associations from Giza and Menoufia on board, he added.

The first Hajj flights to leave Egyptian airports heading for Jeddah will be from Aswan Airport on 13 September to carry lottery pilgrims from Aswan Governorate, while the first flight from Luxor to Jeddah will be on 15 September, carrying lottery pilgrims from Sohag Governorate. A flight will take off from Hurghada Airport on 16 September to transport lottery pilgrims from the Red Sea Governorate to Jeddah Airport.

As for this year’s Hajj ticket fares, head of EgyptAir Company Hisham Al Nahas said they are EGP5,740 for lottery pilgrims, whether to Jeddah or Al Madinah Al Monawara, while pilgrims of charity associations will pay EGP5,840 for each ticket to Jeddah and EGP5,950 to Al Madinah Al Monawara. Tourism pilgrim tickets will start from EGP5,900 to Jeddah and EGP6,250 to Al Madinah Al Monawara, and will increase depending on the duration and timing of travel and arrival.
