Abu Dhabi — The United Arab Emirates has confirmed that it successfully intercepted a series of coordinated cyberattacks aimed at government entities, financial institutions, and banking infrastructure, according to statements reported by the Emirates News Agency (WAM) citing the UAE Cybersecurity Council.
Officials indicated that the attempted intrusions involved network penetration efforts, ransomware deployment, and structured phishing campaigns targeting critical digital systems. Authorities further noted what they described as a “qualitative shift” in the methods employed, including the reported use of artificial intelligence to enhance offensive cyber tools and automate aspects of attack execution.
The Council did not disclose specific dates, operational details, or attribution to any identified group. However, it previously reported that 128 confirmed cyber threat incidents had been recorded since the beginning of 2026, encompassing ransomware attempts, system breaches, and data-related compromises affecting entities within the state.
Authorities emphasized that national cybersecurity frameworks and real-time monitoring systems succeeded in neutralizing the threats without material disruption to services. The incident underscores the evolving nature of cyber risk and the increasing integration of advanced technologies into malicious digital activity, reinforcing the strategic priority placed on cyber resilience across the UAE’s critical sectors.
