Barcelona have announced the signing of Egyptian striker Hamza Abdelkarim from Al Ahly on loan until the end of the 2025–26 season, with an option to make the move permanent.
The 18-year-old forward joins Barça Atlètic, Barcelona’s reserve side, after completing medical tests and touring the club’s facilities. Born in January 2008, Abdelkarim became the first Egyptian player to join a Barcelona team.
A product of Al-Ahly’s youth academy, Abdelkarim has represented Egypt at under-17 level and played a key role at the recent U-17 World Cup. He has already gained senior experience, featuring for Al-Ahly in both the CAF Champions League and the Egyptian Cup.
Known for his mobility, finishing ability and link-up play, Abdelkarim is expected to begin training with his new teammates in the coming days as Barcelona continue to invest in emerging international talent.
