Egypt has reaffirmed its global leadership in inclusive sports after its national team for people with special needs secured the title of the 2025 World Karate Championship, held in Cairo, marking the third consecutive year the country has dominated the international competition. The achievement reflects both the depth of Egypt’s sporting talent and the country’s growing stature as a host for major global events.
According to the Middle East News Agency (MENA), a media partner of TV BRICS, Egypt topped the medals table with a total of nine podium finishes: four gold, one silver, and four bronze. The strong results placed Egypt firmly ahead of Italy, which finished second.
The Egyptian squad delivered standout performances across multiple categories:
- Gold Medalists:
Abdel Aziz Assem, Fatima Abdel Badi, Ahmed Wahid, and Rawan Khalil - Silver Medalist:
Marwa Ahmed - Bronze Medalists:

Their collective showing confirmed Egypt’s depth in para-karate, as the national team demonstrated technical precision, strategic discipline, and a competitive spirit that reflected years of structured preparation and federation support.
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi extended heartfelt congratulations to the team, praising their “historic achievement” and highlighting the symbolic value of Egypt leading the overall global rankings in a championship hosted on home soil. He noted that the athletes’ performance represents “an inspiring model of determination and excellence” for all Egyptians.
The president’s remarks also echoed broader state efforts to expand opportunities for athletes with special needs, positioning para-sports as a central component of Egypt’s national sports development agenda.
Hosting the 2025 World Karate Championship reinforced Egypt’s growing role as a regional and international destination for major sporting events. The competition drew global participation and international media attention, showcasing the country’s organizational capabilities, upgraded sports facilities, and commitment to inclusive sports.
Analysts say Egypt’s back-to-back victories in para-karate signal the success of long-term investment in specialized coaching, training centers, and nationwide scouting programs that integrate athletes with special needs into mainstream sporting pathways.
