Eng. Karim Badawy, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, will inaugurate tomorrow (Tuesday) the work of the Egypt Mining Forum (EMF) in its third edition, which will be held over two days in Cairo, with an expanded international presence of high-level officials, leaders of the mining industry, investors, major Egyptian and international companies, financing institutions, and mining exploration experts from all over the world.
Eng. Karim Badawy, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, is scheduled to deliver the opening speech at the forum, during which the Minister will review the vision of the Egyptian mining sector during the coming period to develop performance and increase the efficiency of work in the sector, the matter which will help to attract more investments to explore and exploit diverse mining wealth.
The forum is being held this year under the slogan (Exploring untapped mining opportunities and new commercial discoveries) and its holding comes in accordance with the plan of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources to promote investment opportunities in the mining sector and highlight the developments it is witnessing and the work program to support the mining investment climate. This annual event also represents a platform that brings together officials In the mining sector and international investors to enhance cooperation and partnership in exploiting Egypt’s mining potential and open the way for cooperation with specialized companies, institutions and international financial hubs in supporting efforts to develop and modernize the Egyptian mining sector.
In its current edition, the forum is witnessing the participation of more than 4,000 participants from 34 countries in the conference activities and the accompanying exhibition, which will include more than a hundred local and international exhibiting companies. The event is scheduled to witness the establishment of 15 specialized discussion sessions over the course of the two days of the conference, including more than 50 speakers. High-level ministers, officials, heads of the local and international companies, mining industry leaders and experts, and officials of financial institutions, and government ministers Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, Dr. Ahmed Kojak, Minister of Finance, and Dr. Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Jordan will participate in the sessions as key speakers, as well as, Dr. Heike Harmgart, Director of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development for the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean Region, heads and officials of major international mining companies, geologist Yasser Ramadan, Head of the Egyptian General Authority for Mineral Resources, and leaders of the Authority.
