Minister of Education Dr El-Hilali El-Sherbini issued ministerial decree no. 64 on forming anti-corruption commission in the ministry’s general bureau and directorates. This commission will be authorized to set and follow up on main executive plans for the national anti-corruption strategy 2015-2018.
By virtue of the ministerial decree no.64, the commission will propose amendments to the national anti-corruption strategy based on results reported to it by subsidiary commissions. It will also assign certain tasks to whoever it sees qualified, and coordinates with relevant authorities to achieve specified goal, including improving ministry’s performance, services and establishing transparency and integrity. These goals include, as well, amending and updating anti-corruption legislations and decisions, increasing public awareness, restoring citizens’ trust in the ministry, boosting domestic and regional anti-corruption cooperation, and engaging with civil society. The commission will be responsible for examining subsidiary anti-corruption commissions’ reports, providing necessary consultation and guidance, and reporting, in turn, to relevant authorities for any suspicious money or administrative violations.
Pursuant to the ministerial decree, each of the ministry’s directorates will have a subsidiary anti-corruption commission assigned to implement the ministry’s national strategy plan and related goals within its jurisdiction.
