On 17-18 December, Trifactory, the multilayered sports organisation, hosted one of the biggest sports tournaments in Sahl Hasheesh, Hurghada. The triathlon is a multiple stage tournament that includes swimming, running and cycling over various distances. The tournament was held for the second time with the participation of 400 competitors from 10 countries.
Preparations for the triathlon started from 30 August. The main aim of holding such an important sports event with international standards was to attract national and international athletes to Egypt.
Amateurs and beginners participated in the triathlon from different age groups and fitness levels.
Major sponsors for the event were Opel, Intersport and Samsung.
The first day of the triathlon included the sprint and super sprint, swimming, and cycling. The second day included the Olympics, swimming, cycling and sprint but with longer distances.
“It was my first time to participate in a triathlon; competition from different age groups kept the positive energy high; Sahl Hasheesh is the perfect spot to host the triathlon as its infrastructure and streets are perfect for cycling and sprint,” says Karim Huwaidak, one of the athletes who participated in the triathlon.
“Such an event can boost tourism in Egypt. Organizing such important sports events with international athletes coming to Sahl Hasheesh can definitely have a positive impact on tourism in Egypt,” Huwaidak added.
On a different note, Sahl Hasheesh, hosts an exceptional combination of beach hotels, apartments, villas and retail outlets. The Red Sea’s pearl, is famous with its breathtaking beaches where the land’s elevation allows for a spectacular view of the bay. The bay is approximately 12,km which is considered one of the longest bays on the Red Sea. Massive Red Sea mountains surround the bay from the west side, reflecting its presence over the clear crystal water where snorkeling and diving are an unforgettable experience. A famous spot for snorkeling is the sunken city, which is located a few meters from the sea shore and has endless numbers of colorful underwater species hidden between the rocks.
The master plan for Sahl Hasheesh resort, is divived into three phases. Phase 1 and 2 includes 12 million square meters of land. The third phase covers 28.5 million square meters and is under study for future development.
While focusing on touristic development in Sahl Hasheesh for the time being, the future plan is to develop an integrated resort city that can promote long term economic and environmental investments.
