“Welcome to Egypt, the cradle of civilization and welcome to New Suez Canal , a crucial artery of global trade,”. That was the opening speech addressed by Vice Admiral Mohab Mamish, of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) and the man in charge of the project, noting that the key development to Egypt progress is by implementing mega gigantic projects.

The New Suez Canal is the gift from Egypt to the whole world. This project has been carried out after our people’s two consecutive revolutions; Jan 25th and June 30th revolutions which have witnessed the crushing of the blackness  and the rising up of a new crack of dawn in the horizon of a bright future, not only in the Middle East but also to the whole world.

A new era has emerged; development and progress are the keys to Egypt’s new set records in the history of humanity.

We are now celebrating the inauguration of one’s of the mega projects in the world which has been completed in the third of its presupposed time .

Last Year ,Mr. President gave the signal to  kick off  the New  Suez Canal project to dig a 72-kilometre canal alongside the original, to be implemented over a year at a cost of EGP 29bn ($4bn). Now, after one year , it is all completed.

“It was all financed with Egyptians and with the Egyptian government,” Mameesh noted, “We all hope for a fruitful economic boost, not only for Egypt but to all countries that could take part in all forthcoming projects to come alongside the Canal.”

“I do thank you Mr President and  all Egyptian people, and all those who took part in the project and who have exerted their utmost effort,” he added, “I would also like to thank all the SCA employees, engineers and all the integrated  international companies who worked round the clock to dig a $8.2 billion project, which expands capacity to 97 ships per day, and expected to got more than double annual revenues to some $13.5 billion by 2023.

I would like to thank the Egyptian military forces who have eased the matter and stood in our back in each step we made.

“Last but not least,” Mamish concluded, “I would like to invite Mr President to officially sign  the inauguration document to authoritatively open the New Suez Canal. God bless Egypt.”

He described the new canal as a miracle as certified by senior navigation experts in the world.
