Giza Governor Adel El-Naggar has announced the launch of a new plan to replace unlicensed tuk-tuks with small, modern, dual-fuel vehicles as part of a broader effort to improve traffic flow and restore order in densely populated neighborhoods. The new vehicles—officially licensed as taxis—run on natural gas and gasoline, offer a range of up to 550 km, and are intended to eliminate problems linked to tuk-tuks, including congestion, unregistered drivers, and underage operation.
The initiative will begin with a pilot phase in Al-Haram, Agouza, October City, and Hadayek October. Giza will also introduce a unified fare system and assign a standard vehicle color per district to support monitoring and enforcement.
