Dubai-based Mohammad Omar Bin Haider (MOBH) Hospitality Group, a subsidiary of MOBH Holding Group, in a joint venture with Hilton Worldwide, is expected to release the tender for the main construction work for its $100 million Hilton Dubai World Central Hotel by January 2016.
The concept design for the hotel is under progress and the schematic design is expected to be completed by the middle of December 2015. The tender for the main construction work is expected to be released by mid-January 2016. The construction contract will be awarded by the end of March 2016.
Group Consult International has been appointed as the design consultant for the 7-storey 535 key-hotel, while Robert Matthew, Johnson Marshall, Partners (RMJM) have been mandated as the architectural and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) consultants.
Dubai World Central, the 145 square kilometre mixed-use development, master planned by Dar Al-Handasah (Shair and Partners) Consultants, is set to be operational in the first quarter of 2019. According to a May 2015 report in Dubai’s local English website Khaleej Times, DWC is also developing three international hotels; Aloft, Studio M and Millennium, which are scheduled for completion between 2018 and 2019. There will be heavy demand for hotel accommodation from passengers at the Al Maktoum International Airport and visitors and participants at World Expo 2020 in Dubai. According to standard calculation metrics, this would create a demand for about 20,000 rooms. Hilton Hotels & Resorts has 70 hotels operating across the Middle East and Africa and more than 90 hotels are under development, according to the company website.
