Petroleum Marine Services (PMS), one of Egypt’s leading offshore contractors, has announced the completion of offshore works for the eleventh phase of the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) Gas Development Project, reinforcing Cairo’s drive to boost domestic energy production and infrastructure.
The milestone, achieved on behalf of Burullus Gas Company, underscores the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ strategy to expand local output, enhance resource monetisation, and develop Egypt’s offshore capacity. PMS completed the task with an entirely Egyptian workforce, working around the clock to finish ahead of schedule, while adhering to stringent safety and quality standards.
PMS partnered with DeepTech to implement technical solutions at depths of up to 880 metres. The scope included installing electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical connections to integrate new wells into production. Operations were executed using the multipurpose offshore unit PMS Burullus, supported by work-class remotely operated vehicles (ROVs).
Engineering input was provided by Longitude Engineering, while Petrojet supplied fabrication expertise and specialised equipment. The collaboration reflects the integrated approach increasingly deployed in Egypt’s energy sector to accelerate offshore developments.
This follows PMS’s delivery of Phase 10 of the WDDM development, completed using its offshore unit PMS MAYO. That campaign involved laying electrical cables at depths of 660 metres and connecting wells to the production network.
The company says these achievements reflect a clear strategic plan to create a “qualitative leap” in marine services by offering integrated solutions, expanding into new domains, and consolidating its role in deepwater infrastructure.
The project highlights the synergies between public and private entities in Egypt’s petroleum sector. Officials note that such ventures not only build local capabilities but also establish PMS as a credible player for executing engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning (EPIC) contracts across the region.
“PMS remains committed to supporting the national strategy to maximise the utilisation of natural gas, enhance efficiency through advanced technologies, and contribute to sustainable growth of the economy,” the company said in a statement.
