Egypt to participate in Africa’s regional team meeting, under Study Group 5 of ITU’s Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T)

Egypt, represented by Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, is decided to partake in Africa’s regional team meeting, under Study Group 5 of ITU’s Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T).

The meeting, organised by ITU-T, will be held on 14 & 15 March and hosted by Zambia’s Communications and Information Technology Authority.

The meeting is decided to review recommendations’ implementation and discuss results of Study Group 5’s latest meeting, held in October 2015 in Geneva. It will tackle as well preparations for International Telecommunication Standardization Assembly 2016

ITU-T Study Group 5 (SG5) is responsible for studies on methodologies for evaluating ICT effects on climate change and publishing guidelines for using ICTs in an eco-friendly way. Under its environmental mandate SG5 is also responsible for studying design methodologies to reduce ICTs and e-waste’s adverse environmental effects, for example, through recycling of ICT facilities and equipment.
