Dubai-based Emirates deployed its super-jumbo A380 aircraft to Bahrain and Qatar last weekend as one-off services to mark feast. The airline said in a statement that the special A380 flights were at full capacity, supporting the traffic over the feast holiday period from both countries.

Divisional senior vice-president at Commercial Operations Centre of Emirates Sheikh Majid Al-Mualla said that Emirates operated a one-off ad-hoc Airbus A380 services to Bahrain and Doha due to significant demand for air travel during the feast holiday period. Although Emirates has no immediate plans to operate an A380 on those routes in the near future, it remains committed to providing customers in Bahrain and Qatar with seamless connectivity to the Far East, North America, Europe and the Middle East through our Dubai hub. The signature Emirates A380 service is fundamental to their overall strategy, and bringing this popular aircraft to both destinations represents significant milestones in their operations. Emirates has flown the A380 to Bahrain International Airport on two previous occasions, while this was the first ever scheduled service of an Emirates A380 to Doha’s Hamad International Airport. The two hubs are extremely popular destinations for the Dubai airline. Emirates serves Doha with seven daily services and has carried over 430,000 passengers to and from the Qatari capital from January of this year. Meanwhile it operates 28 weekly services to Bahrain and during the first seven months of 2015, Emirates carried over 225,000 passengers to and from the country. Among the other GCC states, Emirates already operates a daily A380 service to Jeddah and Kuwait. Emirates, the world’s largest operator of the jumbo aircraft, has a fleet of 63 A380s which serve 34 destinations globally. Some of the airline’s upcoming A380 destinations include Madrid on August 1 and Copenhagen on December 1.
