Liverpool’s talisman Mohamed Salah has capped off a sensational 2024-25 season by being named the Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) Men’s Players’ Player of the Year, making history as the first footballer ever to win the accolade three times.
Salah’s campaign was nothing short of extraordinary. The 33-year-old topped the Premier League charts with 29 league goals and 18 assists—a tally only surpassed in combined goals and assists in a 38-game season by legends like Kevin De Bruyne and Thierry Henry. These contributions were pivotal in Liverpool clinching the Premier League title by a comfortable 10-point margin over Arsenal.
In an unprecedented sweep, Salah also secured the Premier League Player of the Season, the Golden Boot, and the Playmaker Award, becoming the first player to claim all three in the same campaign.
Reflecting on his journey, Salah remarked, “I look at myself now, a guy coming from Egypt and making it to the top level, making history today, it’s something that makes me so proud.”
The PFA Young Player of the Year honor went to Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, whose tenacity and versatility as a midfielder helped him stand out across the season. The 23-year-old, who celebrated his birthday in July, contributed eight league goals and made crucial Champions League impacts, including a memorable hat-trick against Celtic.
Adding to the night’s prestige, veteran football leadership was recognized: Sir Gareth Southgate received the PFA Merit Award for his distinguished service to the sport, alongside USA coach Emma Hayes on the women’s side.
Liverpool’s influence was widely felt across the PFA Team of the Year, with Salah joined by teammates Virgil van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch, and new recruit Milos Kerkez.
Midfielder Ryan Gravenberch, recently awarded Premier League Young Player of the Season, shared his pride: “The recognition from the other players… I’m really proud of myself. It was a really nice event,” he said, already setting his sights on more success for the new season..
Football analyst Dr. Nadia El-Sharawy, speaking from Cairo, notes, “Salah’s recognition this year reflects not only his dazzling statistics, but his enduring influence on the pitch. To combine goal-scoring with creative playmaking makes him singularly effective.”
Meanwhile, youth talent coach Marcus Lee, who has tracked Morgan Rogers’s trajectory, commented: “Rogers’s versatility and maturity belie his age—his emergence is a testament to the next generation making their mark.”
