Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Tarek Amer asserted that the Egyptian banking system is very good and strong.
Addressing a joint conference of the Arab Banks Federation and the US Federal Reserve in New York, he added that the Egyptian banking system managed to endure several international financial crises since 2003. The banking system in Egypt is based on upgrading its capabilities in line with international standards.
The conference is held with a view to discussing efforts for fighting terrorism finance and money laundering. He added that the CBE is cooperating with eight central banks in Europe for six years now to upgrade its organisational capacities.
