Egypt’s Health Ministry headquarters in the New Administrative Capital became the backdrop for a pivotal event on Tuesday. The Arab Company for Drug Industries and Medical Appliances (ACDIMA) convened its general assembly, a gathering that saw the participation of prominent figures such as Finance Minister Mohamed Maait, Minister of International Cooperation Rania el Mashaat, and the Board Chairman of ACDIMA.
Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar took center stage, underlining ACDIMA’s paramount role in the development and localization of pharmaceuticals and medical appliances in Egypt. According to Ghaffar, the company has been instrumental in ensuring the production of these essential commodities aligns with international standards.
The event marked not just a discussion of the present, but a reflection on the past. The assembly featured a documentary that chronicled ACDIMA’s 84-year journey, highlighting the company’s remarkable achievements and its robust strategies that have propelled Egypt’s pharmaceutical industry forward.
The plans presented during the assembly were ambitious. They encompassed ensuring the availability of all types of medicine in the market and establishing new economic markets abroad. These strategies aim to cement Egypt’s place on the global pharmaceutical map and open up new avenues for economic growth.
Health Ministry Spokesman Hossam Abdel Ghaffar echoed the Health Minister’s sentiments, emphasizing the necessity to bolster the local medicine industry. The goal is two-fold: to reduce the dependence on imported medications that can be produced domestically, thereby strengthening the home-grown industry, and to explore sustainable export opportunities, expanding Egypt’s pharmaceutical reach to the world.
In a show of commitment to Egypt’s healthcare initiatives, ACDIMA pledged a whopping EGP 100 million to support the presidential initiative to end waiting lists. This substantial contribution further underscores ACDIMA’s commitment to enhancing Egypt’s healthcare sector.
