Alaa Omar, General Authority for Investment and Free Zone (GAFI) CEO, said that the Authority established Bedaya, or (kick-off), Center for Entrepreneurship and SMEs Development. He added that the project which came in coordination with the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT)- aims to develop and support entrepreneurs and SMEs sector.

Bedaya Center, located in Nasr City, hosts 10 projects in different sectors for 6 consecutive months to help develop initial models and promote them both nationally and internationally.

Omar pointed out that this comprehensive programme is designed to take in startups and help them grow faster. It provides professional technical and consulting services among others, which would boost these startups’ competitiveness. It provides access to workshops and labs to help entrepreneurs develop their initial models, as well as Egypt’s business and investing world.

Under a protocol signed by GAFI and ASRT, the latter offers an EGP 150k fund for each project in Bedaya, Omar announced.

The centre aims to provide entrepreneurs and innovators with skills and knowledge necessary to establish and run their businesses –for a period exceeding 8 months. Bedaya also offers advanced entrepreneurship, marketing training courses, and legal consultation.

Following conclusion of ASRT foundation programme, top 3 working groups will be selected to join Bedaya Center.
