Egypt hosts Arab Accreditation Cooperation’s biannual meeting in August

Egypt is to host the biannual meeting of the Arab Accreditation Cooperation (ARAC) during the period of 29-30 August, sponsored by Eng. Tarek Kabil, Minister of Industry and Foreign Trade.

Eng. Hany Al-Desouky, ARAC CEO and President of the Technical Committee, says that ARAC has been sponsored by the Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade. ARAC is a main pillar of cooperation and infrastructure of the quality system in the Arab World; it also facilitates internal and global trade and develops both economy and society, he adds.

Al-Desouky pointed out that this meeting will be held to discuss the preparations of acquiring the recognition of ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation) and IAF (International Accreditation Forum). ILAC and IAF will sign a mutual recognition agreement with ARAC.

Al-Desouky said that ARAC is among Arab institutions that are globally recognised by international accreditation organisations. ARAC has accredited new 5 labouratories, 3 test labs and 2 calibration labs, according to international standards. ARAC has accredited 3500 bodies, among them are medical labouratories, certification and inspection bodies.
