Discussing KSA liquidating its multibillion-dollar assets in USA

The White House announced that President Obama will visit Kingdom of Saudi Arabia today, Wednesday, to partake in the GCC-US Summit, at a time when the joint relations are undergoing a strategic change.

US president will discuss several important profiles, on top of which are anti-terrorism and solving regional conflicts, especially in Syria, Yemen and Iraq.

There will also be a follow up on the previous summit, held in May 2015 in Camp David, and on anti-terrorism agreements. The two sides will discuss as well what the US will supply GCC countries to enhance their defence abilities, especially against cyber-attacks.

The Syrian conflict will have the greatest share in talks, most importantly because there was news that Obama took serious steps toward activating plan “B”, or at least setting related mechanisms, in preparation for failure of Staffan de Mistura’s negotiations. In addition, talks seek laying down a mechanism based on which armament and military efforts will be coordinated and boosted with moderate Syrian opposition.

It is expected as well that the summit will review reports on Riyadh’s intentions to sell and liquidate its multibillion dollar assets in USA, if an American draft bill on authorising investigating and holding some Saudi officials accountable over their alleged role in September 11 attacks.

Today’s visit is considered the 4th paid by US President Obama, the first of which was in 2009, during the rule of deceased King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The second visit was in 2014 and saw a joint summit between the 2 leaders, while the third was during King Salman’s rule and came as part of the 2015 US-Saudi Summit.
