Women honored at EGPS 2019

Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarik El-Mulla stressed the increasing role of women in energy sector and in the various fields of the energy industry, the matter which prompted Conference of EGPS 2019 to allocate a fullday to discuss the current situation of women and ways to enhance their participation in petroleum activities and support them in competition and innovation.

The Petroleum sector has the honor that women represent 30% of its sectors’ leaders, pointing out that women are an important part in the project of developing and modernizing the energy sector, which is progressing in clear steps and achieving success and Excellency in its goals. This came during El-Mulla’s speech at the session of women in energy at the conference of EGPS 2019 in the presence of Dr. Hala El-Said Minister of Planning and Administrative Reform.

El-Mulla stressed that honoring women in this conference as a major event in its activities is a fundamental right that affirms the faith of the energy sector in the importance and efficiency of the role played by women in the sector. Hepointed out that the presence of the Minister of Planning for this session and the presentation of successful models working in this vital industry enables the sector to compete strongly in the implementation of its work, whichis reflected positively in the results of its work through diversity and equality.

Dr. El-Saeed, stressed the importance of the role played by women in Egypt, and the state’s tendency to maximize this role within the strategy of sustainable development and Egypt 2030’s vision, by providing opportunities for excellence and empowerment, pointing to the government’s broad interest in removing all obstacles Facing women’s empowerment and increasing their contribution to social growth.
At the end of the session, the winners of the awards were honored at the conference, where Engineer Azza Kamal, Assistant Chairman of Al-Wasatani Company for Exploration won the women’s leadership award provided by Total Company. Engineer Sarah Mansour won the next generation award from Apache company. Nadine Tannahi, won the Academic Innovators Award in Technology, Science and Engineering provided by Baker Hughes Company, while ExxonMobil Egypt was awarded company of the year.
