Discovering metal shards inside Molfix baby diapers

As part of the Consumer Protection Agency’s efforts to protect consumers’ rights as per law No. (67) Of 2006 against deceptive and fraudulent practices or non-compliance with quality specifications and standards as one of fundamental rights of the consumer Chairperson of CPA Atef Yaqub said, “The CPA referred Hayat Egypt Hygienic Products S.A.E, Egypt’s Molfix baby diaper producer, to general prosecutor over discovery of bits of metal inside marketed baby diaper batch No. Eg: 19 22/06/ 2016.

Yaqub explained, “The CPA received a complaint from a consumer stating that there are bits of metal inside Molfix baby diapers, which poses a great threat to children and particularly to their skin when diapers come into contact with their private parts and their sensitive skin.
He added, “Samples were taken and sent to labs to make sure they conform to the Egyptian standard specifications. As well as, a police report has been filled under No. 2230 of the year 2016 at 6th of October Second Police Station and referred to general prosecutor to take all necessary legal action against this serious threat to health of our children. He also noted, “There can be no room for complacency when it comes to consumer health”. He also called upon consumers to help the CPA in controlling the market through filling their complaints so that it can take actions against offenders and control markets.
