Saudi Arabia’s ambassador to Egypt, Ahmed Qattan, has held a reception on the occasion of the 86th anniversary of Saudi national day.
The reception was attended by a number of Egyptian ministers, officials and governors, including the prime minister, Essam Sharaf, minister of interior, Mansour Al-Aisawy, and minister of information, Osama Haikal, in addition to minister of education, Dr. Ahmed Gamal, health minister, Omar Helmy, Cairo and Giza governors.
Furthermore, a number of ambassadors, Arab diplomats, Saudi embassy officials, elites, journalists, Egyptian and Arab actors and actresses have attended the reception.
Qattan welcomed his guests at the beginning of the reception. He said that the founder of the Kingdom, Abdulaziz ibn Abdul Rahman Al Saud, was able to unify the Arabian Peninsula and establish a new Kingdom that makes every Saudi, Arab and Muslim proud, even though he had moderate capabilities either military or human capabilities. This achievement is considered a miracle that will not happen again as the king had a strong, unique personality that made all historians praise his intelligence.
The Saudi ambassador said that ties between Saudi Arabia and Egypt are getting stronger as cooperation and coordination come into effect on all levels, either political, economic or security levels.
He asserted in his statement that Saudi Arabia and Egypt are the main corner stones of the Arab nations as they carry the burden of protecting its safety and stability. The Kingdom has the pleasure to serve the two holy mosques in, Mecca and Medina, and it exerts its great efforts to expand Masjid al-Ḥarām, remove barriers and provide pilgrims to Mecca with all needed facilities. Qattan expressed his pleasure to celebrate the national day of unifying the Kingdom.
Qattan praised the Saudi economic development and that Saudi Arabia was able to take advantage of its oil resources to become among the top 20 economies in the world. He also stressed on Saudi Arabia’s support to the region’s issues, especially, the Palestinian conflict until the Palestinian citizens get their rights, and establish their own country with its capital, Jerusalem.
Egyptian former prime minister Essam Sharaf, in his statement on the margins of the reception, congratulated the Saudi king, government and Saudi citizens, asserting that Egypt is celebrating the Kingdom annual day.
Sharaf asserted that the Saudi-Egyptian ties are strong and both nations are tied with historical relations, hoping that the bilateral relations of two countries would be maintained at the same excellent level.
Towards the end of celebration Saudi bands preformed folklore dances, inspired from the Saudi cultural heritage, it performed as well sword dancing which Qattan participated in.
