Must read

Ahmed Al-Wakeel, head of Alexandria Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, said that the EU will finance 2 regional projects to support the tourism sector. The first project’s objective is to promote Islamic monuments tourism, and the second aims at achieving local tourism strategies. Under the EU ENPI CBC programme, the 2 financed projects will enhance non-beach tourism and maintain Islamic monuments.

A delegation of tourism companies from the EU and Mediterranean countries has arrived to Alexandria to view the latest non-beach tourism projects; the visit targets supporting Alexandria’s economy.

The two projects will include an abroad advertising campaign to attract tourism companies, cooperating with concerned bodies, companies and chambers in Italy, Spain, France, Greece, Lebanon, Tunisia and Jordan, in addition to the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and the Confederation of Egyptian European Business Associations (CEEBA).

Implementation of these projects will provide technical support and new technologies, in addition to training, to Alexandria’s tourism sector. Furthermore, students’ awareness of monuments will be raised and photos of Islamic monuments will be uploaded online to advertise tourism. Food taste tourism is to be enhanced through organising festivals of traditional Egyptian and Mediterranean foods, in addition to advertising restaurants that serve healthy Mediterranean foods.

Al-Wakeel points out the exerted efforts of President El-Sisi, Ministry of Tourism and Egyptian Tourism Federation to revive the tourism sector.

Mohamed Rashed, Minister of Tourism, opened the 3rd Euro-Mediterranean Tourism Conference in the presence of Mohamed Abdul Zaher, Alexandria’s Governor, Ambassador Raoof Saad, Assistant of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and James Moran, EU Ambassador. The conference was followed by meetings between Egyptian companies and a delegation of EU tourism companies, According to Alaa Ezz, Secretary-General of CEEBA.

Ezz asserted that an advertising campaign has been organised to advertise the visit of the EU tourism companies’ delegation in order to make it clear that Egypt is secure and stable.
