Based on a plan adopted by the Consumers Protection Agency for protecting the consumers against deception and fraud, and for control of the false and misleading announcements, the Agency has traced, through its information network, 7 TV. channels streaming false and misleading announcements at various times throughout the day.
Mr. Atef Yaqoub, Chairman of the Consumer Protection Agency has stated that 3 of these channels advertise false announcements related to solving a wide range of problems such as treatment of diseases, detention of thieves, cancellation of divorce, marriage approval by the family, and solving marital and emotional problems. These channels include “Hd classic” which streams announcements for Sheikh Abdullah Al-Kelani; “Dolli Cinema” which streams announcement for Sheikh Al-Muddather Al-Bahi Alsudani; and Channel “ El Beit Betak Cinema”which streams announcements for Sheikh Abu Ali Al-Shaibani.
Mr. Yaqoub has warned consumers and urged them not to respond to such false information as they represent a serious social risk reflecting illiteracy and reliance; it also hinders development of scientific ideas and proceeding with medical treatments, and solving problems. In this context, Mr. Yaqoub has referred to the role of such TV channels in substantiating false concepts in the minds of audience. He has thus urged different mediums (printed, audio-visual, and electronic media) to stand against this phenomenon by preventing the broadcast of such kinds of announcements.
The Chairman of the Consumer Protection Agency has stated that 4 TV Channels have been traced, as they stream announcements for maintenance centres using the trade mark Zanusi. These channels include “Panorama Drama-2”, “Fartaka”, in addition to “Hd Classic” and the “Cairo one” TV channel.
