Psychologists say success in life is a result of various elements; it is a result of hard work, persistence, risk taking, courage, intelligence, strength and sometimes luck, and in fact, sustaining success might be actually difficult than reaching it. The story, we will tackle today is a story that started over the shores of the bride of the Mediterranean, Alexandria, specifically in Bakos neighborhood; a story of an Egyptian billionaire who started his career selling juices in his hometown, and ended up making a fortune which is worth $1.94Bn.

How did he start? How did he make his own path to make his fortune?  One of a kind story that can inspire lots of people.

He was born on January 17th, 1929 in Alexandria, as the eldest son of a primary school teacher. His business tendencies were detected really early in his life, when he started selling homemade juices at school.

We might say that luck, played a role in his life; his first step into the business world came when he started working in the import-export business; his brother-in-law, an international businessman, employed him in his import-export business in Saudi Arabia in 1954.

He collabourated with his brothers to form a shipping company in Egypt. After a few years he moved the company headquarters to Italy and set up additional offices in London.

Soon the young Egyptian man gained considerable exposure to the global business platform.

In the 1960s, he built good connections with prominent businessmen and powerful individuals from all over the world, including François Duvalier, the President of Haiti, and geologist George de Mohrenschildt. His success escalated until, he was able to buy one of the most well-known hotel chains worldwide, Ritz. He also owned Harrods, which is a well know upmarket in London.

The important element to consider in the businessman story, is his determination to keep his success, though he has met during his business career, various challenges that made him a fighter who never quits, and although he became the owner of Harrods (the shopping house of the Queen of England) he still fought to have the British citizenship, which he applied for twice, however it was rejected. Several parties, whether in England or outside it, fought him several times; he was attacked by several political parties for not being clear about his source of wealth,  and even by his brother in law, who has helped him at the beginning of his career directed to him several accusations.

The biggest challenge was the death of his son in a car accident, which many suspected was executed by the royal family or the British Intelligence.

This tragedy, did not keep him from staying in England and running his business; he even fought against the royal family and tried to prove that there was a conspiracy from their side to kill his own son. The business tycoon, who nowadays  87 years old, is actually still living in London, and according to Forbes his fortune worth $1.94Bn.

The business magnate the story is about is Mohamed El Fayed; who is the perfect example of someone who has perfectly climbed the social ladder and succeeded   to proves that persistence, strength and determination will lead to self-realization .

Actually determination to success is a key point in many success stories; the human ability to meet challenges and to have a goal and be very sharp in reaching this goal is the core of success. In fact, challenges pave the road to success and get you sharper and stronger. A human being must be able to meet challenges in order to deserve victory.
