Russia is the first among the ITER project partners that wrapped up the agreement on the equipment supplies to ITER
Director of the Project Center ITER, (RF Domestic Agency), Anatoliy Krasilnikov and Deputy Director-General, ITER Organisation, Eisuke Tada signed a final agreement on Russian equipment supplies for the ITER thermonuclear facility which is being built in the south of France.
The document signed last week at the Headquarters of the ITER Organisation is the latest Russian agreement that’s related to manufacturing and supply of components for lower nozzle №8 of the reactor’s vacuum chamber, and one of the diagnostic systems – laser-induced fluorescence, which is to be integrated in the nozzle. Thus, the Russian side has completed the process of preparation and ratification of agreements on all 25 systems within area of its responsibility. Manufacturing of two systems (Nb3Sn and NbTi superconductors) successfully completed, while manufacturing of the rest systems is being carried out in accordance with the concluded supply agreements.
It’s worth reminding that the first agreement on equipment supplies, in particular, a conductor for toroidal field of ITER magnet systems was signed in Moscow on February 12, 2008. Back then, Academician E.P. Velikhov signed the document from the Russian side.
Currently, all the members of the international ITER project actively work on manufacturing and shipping of components to the ITER construction site or to the partners for further installation. Thus, in September last year the last three production lengths of toroidal field strands were sent to Europe from the Kurchatov Institute; supply of conductor for poloidal field conductors is nearing completion. In December, the components of the switching system for the superconducting electromagnetic system of the reactor were sent from JSC NIIEFA, named by D.V.Efremov, to the ITER Organisation. At the moment, in accordance with the schedule, yet another reactor components are being prepared for shipment by Russian enterprises.
