The Egyptian Embassy in Switzerland succeeded to get back from Switzerland an ancient limestone painting which illustrates the seven holy oils. A bilateral agreement between Switzerland and Egypt was made in order to get back the painting.
The painting dates back to the old Kingdom and it beautifully illustrates the sacred oils used in ancient Egypt including those used by the under-taker Anomeen.
The painting was smuggled out of Egypt following the January 25th Egyptian revolution; it was discovered in 1996 in King Teti’s royal tomb at Saqqara necropolis by an Australian – Egyptian excavation mission.
