In a triumphant ceremony held in London last Saturday, Eni has been awarded the Exploration Company of the Year, becoming the winner of the Petroleum Economist Award aiming to celebrate companies which achieve a boost in energy industry.
Eni, the worldwide booming energy company founded 60 years ago, has become the most dynamic energy company in recent months, especially after achieving world record results. The last one was off the Egyptian Mediterranean coast, with the discovery of the supergiant gas field Zohr.
This discovery was one the five largest discoveries that Eni achieved in the last three years, after discovering one the of the world’s largest exploratory wells in 2011 in Area 4 offshore Mozambique, and more discoveries were made in the pre-sale issues of West Africa, Congo, Gabon, Angola, Nigeria, Norway and Ecuador.
The prize was given to Eni due to its high level of geological expertise and leading-edge drilling technologies, which have led to the discovery of more than 10 billion barrels of resources.
A panel of experts representing all areas of the oil and gas sector, led by the Secretary General of OPEC Abdallah El Badri and Malcolm Graham-Wood, owner of Hydrocarbon Capital Ltd, was drawn from across the international energy industry to judge the awards.
The panel recognised Eni as a company that leads with its innovative approach in its exploratory activities to form a creative business environment.
